My Philosophy

There is magic in being known, both to ourselves and in relationship with others. When we allow ourselves to be seen through a lens of curiosity, instead of judgment, we create the space to peel back the layers of “shoulds” and inherited narratives to find our authentic selves. I believe therapy to be a collaborative process between client and counselor rooted in trust, compassion and mutual respect. If I accomplish nothing else, I hope to show my clients that they matter, that their experience is valid, and that they have within them the resources necessary to self-actualize.

I work from a foundation of person-centered therapy, which is a non-directive, empathetic approach rooted in the belief that every human being has an inherent capacity to reach their full potential. From here, I integrate a combination of somatic interventions, parts work, and skills oriented approaches such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) dependent upon and tailored to each client and their unique journey.

While I truly enjoy working with a wide range of clientele, I have a particular passion for working with trauma and addiction/recovery. I have worked extensively with trauma and addiction as a primary therapist and group facilitator at the Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Outpatient (OP) levels of care, and I believe firmly in the power of working from a foundation of grace, acceptance and curiosity, challenging black and white thinking in favor of psychological flexibility and ongoing growth and insight.

My Background

Being a therapist is my dream job! I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Literature from CU Boulder and worked as a writer and teacher before realizing my passion for the written word is really a love of gaining insight into the human condition and the intricacies and complexities inherent within each of us. I hold a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University and consider myself a lifelong learner; I am so thankful to work in a field that involves constant growth and evolution.

Raised in a close-knit Colorado ski town, I count myself lucky to have been exposed to the magic of the mountains and the people drawn to them from the start. After living, learning and working across the Front Range over the last 15 years, I put down roots in the charming town of Louisville, where I live with my husband and our three wild children. I enjoy getting sucked into a new page-turner, drinking (arguably) too many chai lattes, and spending time with my family and friends.
